Tuesday Trends

Spring has sprung! I’m loving the styles this season. It’s nice to live in a city where the sun already shines and winter clothes are packed away. Here is what I’m excited to shop for:
  1. Floral statement necklace. Add a pop of spring to your wardrobe with this flower power accessory from Wet Seal.
  2. Structured, studded tote. This Valentino tote, priced at $2,000, is just a little out of my price range… but studs are here to stay! Hopefully it’s not too hard to find a knockoff?
  3. Distressed boyfriend jeans. This casual, comfortable pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans can be dressed up or dressed down. Pair them with a feminine top, stylish accessories and sexy heels to balance out the tomboy denim.
  4. Hot pink crop top. From girly to edgy, this Topshop tank from Nordstrom is very versatile and can work with all personal styles. Plus, the cutouts in the back are so fun and unexpected!
  5. Strappy, black heels. With the open toe and look of a bootie, these Michael Kors heels are right on trend.

DIY banners are a fun decoration for any occasion, especially when made with pretty ribbons and beautiful calligraphy. Burlap banners, which have also been popular on Pinterest, add country charm and are a favorite of mine. This dessert table from Paddington Way, complete with a DIY pom pom garland and several tiered cake stands, is a simple, stylish way to serve sweet treats this Thanksgiving.  Hello, mini pumpkin pies!

For a trendy twist on this traditional fall decoration, try DIY chevron pumpkins from My Sweet Savannah. With a little bit of paint and patience, this front porch staple is transformed from simple to stylish.

Whether you are spending your turkey day at a fancy soirée or at home dining with your family, you can’t go wrong with a simple dress paired with a sparkly statement necklace. The tailoring and conservative style of this leather dress, found on ador.com, make it look classy and feminine. A statement necklace and simple cross-body bag are the perfect accessories for this polished, sophisticated look.

Nailed it! This color-block mani featured on NailPop will match any Thanksgiving outfit. The jewel tones topped with gold studs  create a glamorous look and are perfect for fall. b974d59a22a878f6ecb6b8e00c862c29

Give thanks this Thanksgiving with customized place mats. This simple DIY project doubles as decoration and a fun activity. What am I thankful for? My family, friends, health and job, just to name a few. Plus fashion, food, Pinterest… the list could go on and on.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tuesday Trends

It is only fitting that I share my favorite trends (and treats) on a weekly basis. That is the name of my blog after all, so this is my inaugural “Tuesday Trends” post. I’ll be sharing my favorite trends in everything from fashion and beauty to home décor and crafts.

I’ve seen these DIY tassel garlands all over Pinterest lately. They are cute for the upcoming holidays, but can also add festive flare to your home year-round. I found this tutorial from The Cottage Market, which I want to try soon.

Studs are here to stay. These Steve Madden flats will add a trendy touch to even the simplest outfits.

Second-day hair at it’s finest. This double fishtail braid from Hotunot is perfect for a laid-back, yet put-together style. The basic French braid seamlessly transitions into a side-swept fishtail braid.

Vintage Christmas ornaments. I love that the colors and patterns give the decorations a retro look. Twinkling white lights would really make them shine! Can you believe Christmas is coming up?! I can’t. Winter is supposed to be cloudy, rainy and cozy; not sunny, warm and bright like it is in Las Vegas. I can’t wait to get into the Christmas spirit when I visit Washington next month :)

Bootie, Bootie, Booties Rockin’ Everywhere!

Must-have fall footwear? Booties! From edgy to girly and classic to country, these chic shoes work with any style. Here are my picks for the top booties of the season.

Studded. For the tough girl or girly girl, these booties from Target are the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. For an edgy look, pair with leather leggings and an oversized graphic sweatshirt. To soften up the studs, pair with a feminine, floral dress.

Picture 2

Cut-outs aren’t just for dresses and tops anymore. Booties are hot on their heels with this trendy look. Dress them down with denim or up with a classic LBD. LuLu*s has a vast selection of sexy shoes, including these nude heels.

Leopard print. Take a walk on the wild side with this stand-out style. It’s important to keep your outfit simple when you wear a statement shoe. Chic skinnies, an oversized top and minimal accessories make the fancy footwear the focal point of your ensemble.

Lace adds instant country charm. This pair from Francesca’s is the ultimate in cowboy chic. They would look adorable with a girly skirt and chambray top.

Metal accents, such as the toe and buckles on these REPORT Signature booties from Nordstrom, add a fancy, sophisticated touch to simple shoes.

Peep Toe. Make sure to have on pretty polish with this contemporary cut! I got this pair from Nordstrom during the Anniversary Sale. They go with everything and add instant style to a basic dress or skinny jeans.

Oxford and menswear are also popular styles this season. This pair by Restricted from DSW has a feminine flare with the wedge, laces and cut-out.

What are your favorite picks for the season? Feel free to share :)

Happy shopping!

Christmas in July… AKA Nordstrom Sale

Yes, I am talking about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I was born a Nordies girl. Every summer my mom would hire a babysitter on that first Friday of the sale and come back with matching leggings and turtlenecks for my younger sister and I (typical ’90s fashion… so stylish). Once I was old enough to go by myself I loved to hit up opening day. With the excitement of new clothes for a new season and crowds of shoppers that are equally as eager, it’s impossible not to get into the spirit of the sale.

This pair of Halogen heels is my prized possession this year. I love that they look like booties and can be dressed up or down. They are really comfortable, too! I broke them in while working a restaurant grand opening, which might not have been a bright idea. However, after being on my feet for 6 hours I was still able to stand and even wore them again the next day.

I paired the heels with cuffed skinny jeans and a peplum top for a casual, yet trendy look. Can’t forget the studded bracelet, too!

Go-To Accessories

accessories
No outfit is complete without some accessories, but these little accents are often forgotten. Putting clothes together and picking out shoes can be challenging enough when you’re rushing to get ready for work or an event. That’s why having one trendy, yet everyday piece is essential. From earrings to bracelets, just having one go-to piece will help complete your look without much thought. Here are some of my favorite ways to easily accessorize:
  • Watch. I’m obsessed with rose gold, especially for watches! All you have to do is quickly clasp it on before you walk out the door and you’ve got an instant accessory that is both pretty and practical!
  • Studs. Earrings add a lot to an outfit. Studs are nice because you can keep them in 24/7. A neutral pair, such as a simple diamond (or faux diamond), will compliment any look!
  • Simple necklace. A delicate cross or a simple-shaped necklace goes with everything.
  • Stacking rings. From chevron to studs, these details add instant style to this classic accessory.
  • Bracelet. Whether it’s one chunky cuff or several small bangles, bracelets can spice up an outfit, especially when you are wearing a top or dress with 3/4 sleeves.

Looks to Keep

looks to keep

Don’t do too much spring cleaning! There are still some styles from winter that are popping up everywhere this season! Here’s how to transform them from winter wear to spring staples!

  • Peplum. This figure-flattering trend is here to stay! Whether it’s a skirt, dress or top, go for a bright color or fun pattern. A leather peplum top will look great with some mint or neon-colored skinny jeans!
  • Studs. The trendiest detail around! Mix this “tough girl” look  with pastels or lace for a more girly vibe.
  • Leather. Instead of heavy coats think accents: panels on dresses, trims on tank tops and shoulder patches on sweaters.
  • Statement necklaces. Accessories are a great way to add a pop of color, such as mint or coral. The Peter Pan style is also popular to wear with a top or dress that has a simple neckline.
  • Patterned pants. Look for colorful floral prints or brighten up a dark-patterned pair from winter with a pastel or neon top.

Target Treasures

Target is my weakness. Sometimes I get the urge to go and just look at everything, but let’s be real, I never walk out empty-handed. Everything is so affordable and cute! Here are some of my recent finds.

First of all, Target has the best knock-off shoes! These flats look almost identical to the Steve Madden version! However, I only paid $19.99!

I’m also obsessed with kitchen accessories. These cute holders look like they are straight off of Pinterest! I love the chalkboard label!

Their spring line includes my favorite colors: coral and mint! This fun box brightens up the bookshelf I painted!

Also, how can I pass up a swimsuit that is only $14.99 per piece?! I love anything that has studs on it. I won’t be able to wear it for a while living in Washington and all, but it will get plenty of use on my vacation to Mexico in May!
