Tuesday Trends: 4th of July

It’s officially time for fireworks, sunshine and barbecues! The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays because it’s the epitome of summer complete with outdoor celebrations with friends and family, patriotic treats and red, white and blue fashion. Below are a few links that have inspired me to plan a fun, festive day!

Country Charm

20140118-134237.jpgMaybe it was our trip to Wyoming or Rob’s hunting gear lying around the house, but I am loving the country style when it comes to home decor. I must not be the only one because I found some great items and Target, Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. The wall decor above is from Home Goods and is the first piece of art that Rob and I have both liked. It’s masculine with the deer, but girly with the floral border and rustic details. 20140118-134247.jpgTarget never disappoints. I found these antler candle sticks on sale for only $7! I paired them with the gold, metallic candles to add some glitz and glam.  20140118-134312.jpgI also love burlap accents and the rustic feel it gives to the room. This vase is from Hobby Lobby. You can’t beat their 50% off deals!20140118-134322.jpgThe white table was my latest DIY project. It used to just be boring, brown wood, but I painted it white and distressed it with sand paper to fit the vintage look I was going for.20140118-134337.jpg

Antler Candle Holders

20131205-182447.jpg Rustic meets modern with these antler pillar candle holders. My sister found these at Target and paired them with fun, trendy candles from Hobby Lobby. The pretty patterns mixed with the country candlesticks create a sophisticated, lodge-like look. She made an adorable arrangement with the mason jar and box sign, which makes for a great center piece on a kitchen table or a unique accessory on a bookshelf.

DIY Fourth of July Centerpiece

Nothing says summer like the 4th of July and red, white and blue! My favorite way to kick off the season is by hosting a barbecue with friends and family. This patriotic candle holder would look great displayed on a buffet or out on the patio after sunset. Best of all, it only cost $3 to make! I got the pail from the $1 section of target. The candle and white beans are both from the dollar store. All you need to do is put a small layer of beans in the pail, place the candle in the middle, then pour more beans around it. Sand or coffee beans would also be cute!

Valentine’s Day Favorites

The day we either love or hate has arrived. Whether or not you have a special someone, these are a few things that will guarantee you have a great day! First of all, the better you look, the better you feel! If you’re going on a hot date or having a girls night out, the perfect dress will put you in the mood to celebrate! This cute, coral dress has Valentine’s Day written all over it (well, not literally). Add a trendy Peter Pan collar necklace to give a basic dress some more style!

Leather accents are a hot trend right now. The leather panel and sweetheart neckline makes this LBD extra fun and sexy. Accessorize with some long, flashy earrings or a short, simple necklace.

v day 5

Don’t forget to share the love! Gone are the days of decorating shoe boxes and getting cards from classmates. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t still express our love to the special people in our lives with  an adorable card! This eco-friendly card is part of a line called “A Little Bird Told Me…” that is designed and printed in Seattle. It’s really cool that 10% of the proceeds support Women for Women International.

v day 2

Smelling good is just as important as looking good! You’ll be irresistible in this best-selling perfume! “Dead Sexy” is a mixture of deep vanilla, exotic wood, white orchid and ebony. The lotion is moisturizing without feeling to greasy or sticky, so I highly recommend it! Even with sensitive skin (like mine) it isn’t irritating!

v day 3

Having a cozy night in instead of braving the crowds? A nice smelling candle is great to set a relaxing mood whether you are having a night alone, a wine-filled night with roommates or a romantic date! It also makes a cute decoration for your house!

v day 4

Finally, no Valentine’s Day can be complete without chocolate! I am lucky enough to have an amazing boyfriend who knows how much I love chocolate. These are the personalized M&Ms he got me! He obviously knows how much I like pink, too!

Hope you all have a happy Valentine’s Day!

Many Uses for Mason Jars

As you can probably tell from the description of this blog, I love cupcakes. I’ve started to acquire quite the collection of cupcake liners because as much as I love eating cupcakes, I like baking them even more. I found that mason jars are a cute and convenient way to store them!

Mason jars are also great for holding loose change! Every penny adds up. Keep tossing your coins in and use it to buy a treat for yourself when it reaches the top!

My roommate made this candle by tying natural brown string around the top and hot-gluing the bow in place. Then put your favorite candle inside and enjoy!
