When I graduated from college last year, I was so excited to have my own room! You would think at 22 I wouldn’t have been sleeping in a bunk bed still, but I always had roommates while living in the sorority. Having a townhouse in Seattle with just two friends was a nice change. Since I finally had my own space, I wanted to make it look like me. I don’t have much wall space in my bedroom, but I made the most of it.
I started this arrangement with the middle frame that I found at Hobby Lobby (everything else is from there, too). Coral is my favorite color and is everywhere in my room, so of course everything had to match! I used the left over paint from my dresser to paint the wood frame and two wood plaques (I love the unique shapes and they are only $2.99!). When the paint was dry, I used Mod Podge to stick a photo on one of the plaques. I used a nail to hang the “J” from the other one. Then I attached sawtooth picture hangers to the back of them, so I could hang them from a nail in the wall.
If you haven’t noticed from previous posts, I LOVE cupcakes. I came across this cupcake scrapbook paper and wanted to add it to my wall décor, so I framed it using a 12×12 inch frame.
The “Laugh” and “Relax” signs caught my eye because of the colors and design, but the words also fit my personality. They really tied everything together. I played around with the arrangement on the floor before measuring it out on the wall and hanging it up.
I’m very happy with the finished product! It was a fun, easy DIY project and expresses who I am :)
