To Wyoming and Beyond!

Howdy! Recently my boyfriend and I took a road trip to his hometown, Laramie, Wyoming. He was driving from Seattle to New Mexico, which is where he will be living for four months, so I decided to go along for the ride! I’ve never been to that part of the country, so it was amazing to see all of the beautiful sites! We stopped in Ogden, Utah the first night and went to dinner at the Rooster, a local restaurant and brewery. It was delicious and had a cute, country feel to it.

The next day we hit the road and didn’t stop until Laramie! We arrived just in time for a pretty sunset.

On our first full day we went to the University of Wyoming, where he went to college. Apparently they also call it “U-Dub,” but I like to refer to it as the “fake UW” because, as a University of Washington graduate, I believe we are the one and only. However I did end up getting this T-shirt… Go cowboys!

We went to a “UW” basketball game one night when they were playing Boise State. This UW team was undefeated, so we were excited to see a win! It was such an exciting game! There were 10 lead changes and 8 ties throughout it. UW lost by three points on a buzzer-beater! I guess I’m bad luck… (there’s more too this later). After the game we went to a bar called The Library. The bartenders wore shirts that said, “Don’t lie to your parents, tell them you’re at The Library.” How clever!

While we were in Laramie we also went ice skating and walked around downtown. There are a lot of cute storefronts, including a clothing boutique called “Bakery.” I love that it combines my two favorite things: fashion and baking! There was even a pink Christmas tree! This is me expressed through a store! Inspiration for my future, perhaps? :)

On our final day together we went to Denver. We spent the afternoon walking up and down 16th St. and shopping at Cherry Creek Mall. It was the first time I’d seen a Nordstrom in a week, so I was starting to feel back at home. While in Denver, the Broncos were playing in the NFL playoffs. Of course since I was in town, they lost. So did the Seahawks when I returned to Seattle. Like I said, I’m bad luck.

Also, as a country music fan, I had to stop by Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. We didn’t actually eat there, but I got the tourist shot I wanted!

I had a great time, but you can’t beat coming home to Washington on a sunny day! Also, 33 degrees feels warm compared to the two degrees I experienced in Wyoming. My hair even froze at one point. Needless to say, it was good to see Seattle!
